Nurse Director of Surgical Services
The Nurse Director Surgical Services is responsible for leading and managing all the surgical services areas including Preadmission Testing, Ambulatory Surgery, Surgery, Surgery Scheduling, Recovery Room, Anesthesia, Gastroenterology, Sterile Processing, Central Supply, Storeroom and Shipping and Receiving. The Director develops organizational structure, a professional climate, and philosophy of patient care, which promotes excellent health care delivery, the execution of clear goals and standards, and continual investigations of alternative methods to improve operations.
Position Essential Functions (list in order of importance including measures)
Executes nursing professional practice model and professional development to achieve quality outcomes and current best practice. Collaboratively structures block time schedule to best accommodate workload, surgical prioritization and efficiency. Define performance standards, goals and initiatives to continually monitor and improve Surgical Services Operations.
Acts as team member with Section Chief of Anesthesia and Chairman of Surgery - developing OR budget, capital equipment planning and expansion planning for Executive Leadership Approval. Responsible for achieving budget targets to support exceptional financial performance. Responsible for accurate charges from all areas of responsibility.
Ensure departmental compliance with accreditation, licensure and other regulatory standards including IDPH and Joint Commission, establishing annual and long-term program or service goals, strategies and plans (including business plans) consistent with hospital goals and strategies.
Builds a cohesive patient care team through recruitment, selection, and orientation/mentoring of new employee hires; promoting ongoing continuing education, including certifications; and maintaining an ongoing dialogue with staff via formal (e.g., employee satisfaction surveys, staff meetings) and informal channels.
Building strong relationships with physicians and staff by fostering a collegial atmosphere and supporting healthy educational dialogue about clinical, operational, procedural and new initiative issues. Establishes positive relationships with vendors to ensure access to necessary trays and supplies.
In collaboration with Chief Nursing Officer, Section Chief Anesthesia, and Chairman of Surgery, this position is responsible to define, develop, and implement hospital initiatives and strategies to ensure that quality patient care is provided in a cost-effective manner, utilizing continuous quality improvement techniques.
Promotes evidenced based practice and leading-edge technology to obtain superior clinical outcomes and shares information through educational programming. This position is responsible for business development, cost management and care management in a broad portfolio of services.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
