Summary:
As a phlebotomist in the new clinical laboratories of CIMPAR Clinical Laboratories, you will be critical in establishing and delivering our mission to provide high-quality healthcare services to our patients.
Your expertise in blood collection, specimen handling, and dedication will contribute to accurate diagnosis and treatment plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:
o Travel to and from locations requesting collection services.
o Transport and move required equipment for phlebotomy and/or laboratory testing collections as needed.
o Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and care, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
o Collect and label specimens accurately, ensuring proper identification and maintaining the integrity of the samples.
o Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
o Provide exceptional patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism while easing any anxieties or concerns they may have.
o Keep accurate records of specimens collected, ensuring documentation is complete and current.
o Processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.
Prepares specimens for reference laboratory dispatch and testing.
Resolves ambiguous and/or unusual test orders by contacting the appropriate personnel.
Refers unresolved orders to the originator for further clarification before collecting samples or processing specimens.
o Makes the appropriate leadership aware of unresolved orders.
o Collaborate with management to establish and implement workflow optimization.
o Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure inventory control with the necessary supplies.
o Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines, such as CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments), CAP, and state certification requirements.
o Monitor phlebotomy practices to identify areas for improvement.
o Train and mentor personnel on proper phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and compliance with regulations.
o Drive to collection sites as assigned.
o Plan workflow and schedule to maximize productivity (travel times, weather delays, traffic considerations, etc.
) o Ensure the vehicle is well-maintained, fueled, and ready to go.

Qualifications:
o High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher.
o Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
o Ability to navigate traffic and changing travel conditions.
o Previous phlebotomy experience o Phlebotomist certification by ASCP (or equivalent) preferred.
o Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant software.
o Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
o Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on diverse challenges and additional duties.
Physical Requirements:
o Mobility and Travel:
Mobile phlebotomists must be comfortable with extensive travel as they move from one location to another to reach patients.
This may involve driving long distances, walking in different environments, and navigating various settings.
o Standing and Walking:
The job involves a significant amount of time spent on your feet.
Phlebotomists must be able to stand for extended periods while performing blood draws and moving between patients.
o Fine Motor Skills:
Precise hand-eye coordination is essential for successful blood draws.
You will be using needles to puncture veins, so steady hands and excellent fine motor skills are required.
o Lifting and Carrying:
Phlebotomists may need to lift and carry equipment such as blood collection supplies, coolers, and other materials needed for their mobile setup.
Lifting and carrying moderately heavy (up to 30 lbs.
) objects is necessary.
o Bending and Reaching:
There will be instances where you need to bend or reach to access veins for blood draws or retrieve supplies.
Flexibility is crucial to perform these tasks safely.
o Patient Assistance:
Some patients may have difficulty moving or positioning themselves for the blood draw.
As a phlebotomist, you might need to assist patients in getting into the appropriate position for the procedure.
o Infection Control:
Mobile phlebotomists must follow strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
This may involve proper disposal of biohazardous materials and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
o Physical Endurance:
The job may require long hours, especially during busy days or when traveling between multiple locations.
Being physically fit and having adequate endurance will help you maintain your energy and focus throughout the day.
o Emotional Resilience:
While not a physical demand, it is essential to mention emotional resilience.
Phlebotomists may encounter anxious or fearful patients, and handling these situations with empathy and composure is critical.
